On 4 June 2019, the second event will take place to mark the 150th anniversary of the discovery of the periodicity of the properties of chemical elements.

Organizer: the DAAD Information Center in St. Petersburg and the German Science and Innovation House in Moscow
Professor Clemens Laubschat of the Technical University of Dresden has been invited from Germany to give a lecture on "Rare Earths: Elements with unusual properties".
His Russian colleague Professor Dmitry Y. Usatschev, from the State University of St. Petersburg, will give a lecture on "Carbon - King of the Elements".
The event is part of the German-Russian Year of University Cooperation and Science 2018-2020.
On April 10, 2019, at the time of the German Week in St. Petersburg, the series of events was opened with a lecture by Prof. Dr. Eckart Rühl, Institute for Chemistry and Biochemistry - Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at Freie Universität Berlin, and Professor Alexei Y. Timoshkin, Associate Professor at the Laboratory for High-Temperature Chemistry of the State University of St. Petersburg. More information can be found here
